 ChampionChip Instructions

  • You will receive an envelope labeled with your name and your chip code.  Alongside your running number (bib) and the safety pins for fixing your running bibs on your clothing you will find a black timing chip and a plastic tie strap for fixing your timing chip to your shoe.

  • Insert the plastic tie strap into one of the square holes of the chip. Make sure that the strap goes in through the top side first.

  • Insert the strap underneath your shoelace. MAKE SURE THE LONGER END OF THE MIDDLE TUBE IS POINTING DOWNWARDS. If your ChampionChip is not facing downwards, you will not receive proper timing.

  • Insert the strap back up the second square hole. Secure it firmly against your shoe.

  • Buckle up your strap tightly. CAREFUL: Once you do this the strap will not reopen unless you cut it off.  Make sure your ChampionChip is now fixed firmly on your shoe.

  • Cut of the remaining end of the strap with some scissors. You should leave a small bit so that the strap does not fall off!

  • Your shoe should end up looking like this!

Your ChampionChip will be removed by Race Officials as you cross the finish line.  Please do NOT hand your chip to anyone other than the Race Officials.  If your ChampionChip is lost you will lose your deposit money.
 Do's & Don'ts

  • The chip can be damaged by extreme shocks and by cooking it in a microwave oven.
  • Remove the chip before putting the shoe in the washing machine.
  • Do not give your chip to anyone other than a race official at the finish line area.

  • If you cannot finish the race, return your chip only to designated race officials.
  • Do not cross the systems by walking on your hands. Your chip will not be read.
