The Qatari ambassador Saad Mohannadi and the Iraqi ambassador Omar Barzenji assured their support for their country runners in BLOM Beirut Marathon 2011 which will be held on Sunday the 27th of Novemberunder the slogan “take it to the streets and run”.
A delegation of Beirut Marathon Association including the Vice-President of the Association, the retired Brigadier General Hassan Rostom, a member of the governing body coordinating with the Arab embassies, Mrs. Nabila al-Fakih as well as a member of the governing body Mrs. Nina Khoury, met th Ambassador Mohannadi and shed light over this year’s race’s preparations. Mohannadi focused on the importance of having professional Qatari runners joining the race as well as the presence of the embassy’s crew, in order to show the importance of the Arab presence in this event. The Qatari Ambassador also offered his cooperation in the achievement of operational
steps.
From his side, the Iraqi Ambassador expressed a deep love from the Iraqi people towards Lebanon and vice versa, while assuring the importance of cooperating with athletes and addressed the politicians to learn from them and adopt their team spirit. Barzenji guaranteed his presence at the race while concentrating on the importance of the convergence of the Arab youth in Lebanon.
It should be noted that the Ambassadors Mohannadi and Barzenji received an invitation to participate in the training program adopted by the Beirut Marathon Association, especially the one related to the diplomatic missions’ representatives under the supervision of Maxime Chaaya.

السفيران العراقي والقطري لدعم مشاركة عدائي بلادهما في بلوم بيروت ماراثون 2011
أكد كل من السفير القطري سعد المهندي والعراقي عمر البرزنجي استعدادهما لدعم وتسهيل مشاركة عدائي بلادهما في سباق بلوم بيروت ماراثون 2011 الذي يقام بتاريخ الأحد 27 تشرين الثاني المقبل تحت شعار ” انزلو عالشارع اركضو
وكان وفد جمعية بيروت ماراثون الذي ضم نائب رئيس الجمعية العميد المتقاعد حسان رستم وعضو الهيئة الإدارية المنسقة لدى السفارات العربية السيدة نبيلة الفقيه وعضو الهيئة الإدارية أيضاً السيدة نينا خوري إلتقى السفير المهندي ووضعه في أجواء التحضيرات لسباق هذا العام وشدد على أهمية المشاركة في السباق خصوصاً من جانب العدائين القطريين المحترفين إضافة لمشاركة طاقم السفارة في خطوة تأكيد على دعم هذا الاستحقاق وبهدف تعزيز المشاركة العربية في فعالياته. وقد أبدى السفير القطري كل الإستعداد للتعاون
وتحقيق الخطوات التنفيذية.
من جانبه السفير البرزنجي عبر عن عميق محبة العراقيين للشعب اللبناني والعكس هو الصحيح مؤكداً أهمية التعاون مع الرياضيين والمفكرين داعياً السياسيين للتعلم من الرياضيين والتحلي بالروح الرياضية. وأكد حضوره يوم السباق والمشاركة في فعالياته منوهاً بأهمية السباق على صعيد تلاقي الشباب العربي على أرض لبنان الحبيب
تجدر الإشارة إلى أن السفيرين المهندي والبرزنجي وجهت لهما الدعوة للمشاركة في البرنامج التدريبي
الذي تعتمده جمعية بيروت ماراثون خصوصاً المتعلق بممثلي البعثات الدبلوماسية بإشراف مكسيم شعيا
