Regulations for Athlete’s managers, Bicycles, Motorbikes, ATV, and Personal security guards/Bodyguards on Marathon day

ALL RIDERS ARE REQUIRED TO SIGN THIS AGREEMENT PRIOR TO EMBARKING UPON THE COURSE. A BIB NUMBER WILL BE ISSUED TO THE RIDERS BY THE BMA, AS WILL A PASS. NO PASSES WILL BE ISSUED ON RACE DAY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

 

PERSONAL SECURITY GUARDS MUST OBTAIN PERMISSION TO ENTER THE COURSE PRIOR TO RACE DAY AND MUST COORDINATE WIT THE BMA MANAGEMENT IN ADVANCE.

 

FIREARMS ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED UNLESS DECLARED TO THE INTERNAL SECURITY FORCES IN ADVANCE OF RACE DAY AND THE APPROPRIATE PERMISSION GRANTED BY THE APPROPRIATE AUTHORITIES.

 

BODY GUARDS WHO WILL ACCOMPANY RUNNERS IN THE RACE ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR A RUNNING BIB.

 

FOLLOW CARS ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THE COURSE WITHOUT APPROPRIATE PASSES WHICH WILL BE ISSUED FROM THE BMA OFFICES IN ADVANCE. PERMISSION WILL NOT BE GRANTED ON RACE DAY

 

1. You may only follow your athlete on a bicycle IF YOUREGISTER IT with the BMA before race day.

 

2. You must sign a declaration that you will not interfere with any athlete on the course throughout the race. You may not advise an athlete of the time nor may you advise the athlete about any technical information that will constitute an unfair advantage.

 

3. You may not pass any water, or drinks or food to the athlete during the course of the race.

 

4. You may not bring your bicycle or vehicle to the first 2.3km of the race,

 

5. You may not bring your bicycle or vehicle to the last 350 meters of the race.

 

6. Should any manager or rider break these rules the federation will issue a warning. After two warnings the rider will be required to leave the course.

 

7. The BMA and the Federation reserve the right to change these permissions at any time and may revoke any permit given should they feel that it will affect the quality of the race or interfere with the sport of running. A granted permit is not a right, but a privilege.

 

8. No ATV’s are allowed on the 42.195 marathon course.

 

9. Pace-making with any wheeled device will result in an immediate disqualification notice being issued by the federation that will come into effect after the athlete crosses the finish line. The decision of the Federation in these matters is final and may not be appealed.
