The second edition of Myschoolpulse « 5k Walk or Run » took place in Faqra on Sunday 7 August, to fundraise for the schooling of sick children. This sportive event gathered parents and children in a fun atmosphere in the superb surroundings of the Faqra Club.
The 5k itinerary suited all participants, the youngest, the walkers, and the top runners, grouped in seven categories. About 1300 participants then gathered at the « Panorama » site in a friendly atmosphere. The overall winner, Kotayba Kanat, ran it in 16 minutes and 53 seconds.
The first Sunday of August is now an unmissable sportive date and is organised in a professional way by Beirut Marathon Association, and thanks to many sponsors and to Mireille Nassif, mother of Paul Yared who passed away 2 years ago from cancer, and co-founder of Myschoolpulse, along with Daniele Diab.
A medal ceremony followed the race, where the top three winners of each of the seven categories were awarded medals and gifts. A few moving speeches were given, including Mr. Raymond Audi who strongly supported Myschoolpulse since its creation, Mrs. Raymonde Abou, former principal of Collège Louise Wegmann, and Mrs. De Beaufort, Paul’s teacher at hospital during his treatment.
Myschoolpulse schools about 10% of sick children in Lebanon, thanks to the support of Dr. Peter Noun, and the close collaboration with Oumnia Association which has a daily presence in a few large hospitals in Beirut. Myschoolpulse finances the tuition fees of needy children who return to school after treatment. Myschoolpulse also encourages and helps children suffering from a handicap due to their sickness to focus on a computer education so they can one day elect to conduct their careeers from home.
